Be Happy Be Family

Be happy, be family, I recently wrote those words in another post, as a closing thought, as I reread the article, I was touched by the thought of being happy, because we are family! I know many people who have not experienced the blessings of being in a family where love is the key to the family relationships.

I feel very much blessed to have grown up with a rather atypical yet loving family, only to marry the man of my dreams and deliver and raise seven children of our own. I miss the times when seven children, five of whom were under six, followed my cue when we would prepare to go anywhere, or better yet, when it took eons to get ready to go to church, because everyone needed something. From needing shoes and socks put on the youngest ones, to combing the spiffy hairdos of the boys, from racing through a quicky breakfast, or stopping at the corner market for Hostess pies for a treat, those were the days. I loved every minute of my life, looking back, I have a tendency to see it in an even brighter light, than during those days of racing through life, to get everyone up to adulthood.

Adulthood that came oh too quickly for this Mother, for I would truly start from scratch again in a heartbeat. Yes, I loved Mommying, I appreciate the changes that were such a part of God's design in each of those lives, but miss the group of super close friends that I was such a part of.

New friends, new acquaintenances, new relationships, yes each has taken on a new look, a new friendship, a friendship that changes with the times. I look forward to those times yet to come, where I gain insight into who those seven people are becoming. I say are becoming, because that is what each of us does as long as we are granted breath to live on this earth. Ever expanding, always changing ever searching for the design of the Creator.

Be happy, be family, is a motto I understand more accurately today than I did 41 years ago. I found family life to be a super blessing, I pray that that style of living could be found by each and every one of my family, so that when they reach later years of their lives, they will have the honor of looking back and realizing that those things that really matter more than all else in life, are found in family, I pray that they realize that never will you be as happy as when you are surrounded by loved ones who know you and accept you as you are, without judgment, without demand, simply accepting because you are you!
