Upon His Return

What will be his personal, state of mind,
When no longer he guards, the strong hold he's assigned?

When upon return, he must relate ,
To the world he knew, before he walked through the gate,

Climbed on a plane, flew far through the sky,
No one seeing this serviceman cry!

Trepidation the main course, of his mind boggling ride,
Turmoil with wonder, he keeps trying to hide.

Not all you say, suffered this way,
Some came back whole, to face the day.

'Tis the one who remains, caught in daily wonder,
Who shrinks in the night, at heavenly thunder,

Who struggles to make sense of his daily routines,
While trying to control thoughts of war and it's scenes.

The one who looks back on years lost to air,
Who relationships struggled far beyond repair.

The boy who married his Sweetheart of youth,
Who lost her while away in mind and truth.

The one whose nightmares became daily routine,
Whose countenance fell from happy to mean.

The one who calls out to the buddies he lost,
While serving for Freedom at any cost.

That my prayer is sent for, throughout the year,
To find Peace on earth, to overcome his fear!

Thank You Servicemen, those who remain,
Remember we care, that you suffer such pain.

Look to the Heavens and feel support from above,
For You Served God's Creation, please Know you are loved!

For those years of hurt, fear, and pain,
Freedom is ours, may it always remain!

Thank You Every Service Man and Woman For Your Blessing to America,
Cheryl G Burke
